What is your job title, and what does that position entail?
My job title is Robotic Sales Specialist. I am responsible for sales, demonstration, consulting and support for all of our Robotic offerings. In short I am essentially a Sales Engineer that works in my entire office’s territory selling and supporting Robotic Products including accessories.
How long have you worked at Olympus, where did you come from? A little history of how you got involved with Olympus?
I have been working with Olympus Controls since June 2019. Funny enough I actually got involved with Olympus right out of college. A recruiter contacted me asking if I wanted to work with Robots in Silicon Valley. I immediately jumped on the opportunity and it has been a great match ever since.
What do you like best about working at Olympus?
The people I work with are amazing. It is incredible how much I have learned and been able to grow thanks to the guidance of my team. The variety of customers and projects I get to work with is also a treat. In my territory especially, I can be working with anyone from startups to fortune 500 on any given week. Projects can vary from simple pick and place to complex robotic control. It can be amazing what I can do to help companies progress and have successes in Automation/Robotics.
Describe a little of your past history.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and for college attended Purdue University for mechanical engineering. A lot of my previous work was in R&D for medical devices and testing that lead to multiple publications in JBJS, as well as some patents pending. I quickly realized that I enjoyed facing customers and presenting solutions which lead to a craving for a sales engineering role. Ultimately, leading to my current job with Olympus Controls.
Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy snowboarding, tennis, golf, running, and hiking. The west coast is amazing for a lot of outdoor activities.
What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?
Take care of the customer and the customer will take care of you. If you are diligent, honest, and there for your customer he/she will help you in the long run. Time after time my most consistent success stories are with customers that have come back to Olympus Controls because we have helped them achieve their goals with Robotics.
What is one thing your customers might find surprising about you?
One thing that customers might find surprising is that I have visited every state in the US and over 20 countries.
