What is your job title, and what does that position entail?
I am a Customer Service Rockstar, I mean Representative working out of our Northwest Office in Oregon. My Territory includes California, Oregon, and small part of Washington. The customer service roll is unique at Olympus as it includes the entire order process, from placing the order all the way to invoicing, and everywhere in between. With this Business Model each customer service representative is able to take ownership of their territory and provided the best support we can to each of our customers.

How long have you worked at Olympus, where did you come from?
I have worked at Olympus since December 2008. I started right after graduating from College in 2008. I was born and raised right here in Portland Oregon and love everything about living in Oregon, even the rain…

Can you tell us a little about your background and how it helps you in this position?
My prior work experience includes working the reception desk at a veterinary hospital, Interning in the Admissions Office at the College I attended, whipping up delicious coffee beverages at a coffee house, and many more! All the position I’ve held have provided me with great skills that I have continued to use and develop as I grow in my career. Communicating and working with customers has been a vital skill that I’ve learned in each of these positions and ultimately lead to where I am now at Olympus.

What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?
One of the most important lessons I learned so far is that you’ve got to apply yourself. You are the only person that can make yourself successful. I think this is something your parents always told you when you were in school. But it has been a valuable tool for me as I’ve developed my career. I notice now when I’m feeling overwhelmed with my work load that it usually comes down to something I am doing. So I take the time to re-evaluate my processes and find where I need to make improvements in order to be more successful.

What do you like best about working at Olympus?
The simple fact that I love going to work every day says a lot about Olympus. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some awesome people that I consider to be great friends and mentors in my life. We have great leadership that strives for its employees to not only be successful but to have fun while doing it.

What was your first job ever?
My first official job I had was at a veterinary hospital. I was the front desk coordinator – fancy for receptionist. I was in high school at the time and so I just worked after school. I was once asked to help hold a dog while the Doctor re-bandage a flesh wound. The dog did great…I on the other hand started to pass out and had to sit down. That was the last time they asked me to help with any of the furry patients.

Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like
to do outside of work?
I love spending time with my family. I have two older siblings that have kids I get to spoil. I like to sugar them up and then send them home to Mom and Dad. I like to run and do yoga in my free time. My 2 year old pitbull/lab helps me keep a steady running pace of… fast. I love to travel, experience new places and cultures, and I am determined to find the best bottle of wine under $10…the search continues!

What is one thing your customers might find surprising about you?
Just one? I’ll give you a few. I love watching movies – but not chick flicks. My closet may be full of dresses and shoes but I am an avid Portland Trailblazers fan – Wesley Matthews is my favorite. My First trip out of the country was to Rwanda, Africa. I went with a group of college student’s. We built houses and also taught at two different elementary schools. Although the pictures don’t show this my current hair color is red – I like to keep people guessing.
