Product Focus: Lexium MDrive
Lexium MDrive is a robust rotary stepper motor integrated with drive, controller and encoderform a single, compact unit that is quick to install and easy to use. Lexium MDrive products offer interchangeable ease to system designers. Each product size has one common product envelope. So choosing different communication protocols — whether it is RS-422/485, EtherNet or CANopen — does not change the product footprint. Product lengths vary with choice of motor stack length in NEMA motor sizes: 17, 23 & 34 (42, 57 & 85 mm).
Lexium MDrive with circular M12 connectors
Circular industrial connectors in standard M12 configurations provide a robust, durable interface for demanding applications. Available in NEMA 23 and 34 motor sizes.
MDrive integrated motor brand, is now available with IP65 rating. The IP65 certification provides an additional level of protection in an already rugged product line. And, with no change to current product prices, customers will be receiving this feature for free!
Networking over EthernetTCP/IP or CANopen via industrial M12 circular connectors is also available in Lexium MDrive® integrated motor systems, NEMA motor sizes 23 & 34.
Product Focus: MDrive Plus
MDrive Plus integrated motion control products consist of a motor and electronics, ideal for machine builders who want an optimized motor with on-board electronics. The integrated electronics of MDrive Plus products reduce the potential for problems due to electrical noise by eliminating the cable between motor and drive. MDrive Plus products use 1.8° 2-phase stepper motors integrated with a microstepping drive, and accept up to 20 resolution settings from full to 256 microsteps per full step, including: degrees, metric and arc minutes.
MDrive Plus integrated motion control products are available in several versions:
- Step / direction input: motor and drive with optically isolated step and direction input via SPI communication.
- Motion Control: motor, drive and fully programmable controller with up to 8 I/O lines, configurable 10-bit analog input, and RS-422/485 or Ethernet communication.
- Ethernet: motor, drive and fully programmable controller with 4 I/O lines and ODVA-compliant EtherNet/IP protocol, also ModbusTCP.
- CANopen: motor, drive and controller with CANopen interface support CiA DS301 and DSP402 Device Profile for Drives and Motion Control.
- Speed Control: motor, drive and variable speed controller configurable electronically with resolutions switchable on-the-fly, SPI com.
Product Focus: MDrive Hybrid
MDrive Hybrid Motion Technology™ (HMT) solves many servo applications with a compact, low cost stepper solution. HMT continually monitors the relationship between the motor’s rotor and stator at sub-microsecond intervals, and will not allow that relationship to exceed the point where synchronization is lost. Delivering smooth movement while eliminating unintentional stalling, HMT will never lose functional control of the motor. Integration of motor and electronics reduces installation costs and the potential for problems due to electrical noise by eliminating the cable between motor and drive. User-friendly PC commissioning software allows for rapid setup and conﬁguration.

Robust Lexium MDrive products integrate 1.8° 2-phase stepper motors with onboard drive electronics, a controller with up to 8 I/O and now features dual ethernet capability. The “Dual Port” option is available on NEMA 23 and NEMA 34 Lexium MDrive products featuring M12 connectors. Feedback options include open loop, or closed loop with a 1000 line (4000 counts/rev) incremental or multi-turn absolute encoder. Both encoder options feature hMT closed loop performance.
